Thomas Hutchins was born in March, 1720 in Salem, Essex, Massachusetts Bay Colony, son of Thomas Hutchins (1693–1747) and Sarah Southwick (1694–~1749).
Thomas (23) married Abigail Pierce (23) (born on April 17, 1720 in Gloucester, Massachusetts; daughter of John Pearce and Ruth (Hilton) Pierce) in February, 1744 in Oxford, Massachusetts. Their children were:
- John Hutchins (1744–1800)
- Thomas Hutchins (1747–1810)
- Isaac Hutchins (1754–1830)
- Asa Hutchins (1762–1802)
- Judith Hutchins (1779– )
