Judson Pearl Hutchins died at his home in Port Barnett at 11:45 o'clock in the evening of Monday, April 27, aged 78 years, 1 month and 13 days. For four weeks immediately preceding his death he had been ill of a complication of diseases incident to advanced age.
Mr. Hutchins was a native of Jefferson County and a son of Pearl and Esther (Slawson) Hutchins; he was born March 4, 1847.
He was married on November 22, 1868, to Christina Hetrick, of Knoxdale, the marriage being performed in Warsaw township by Justice of the Peace Samuel Temple. Mr. and Mrs. Hutchins lived in Elk county for two years following their marriage, but the remainder of their life together was spent in Jefferson; the husband was a lumberman in the early days, but thirty-two years ago he moved to a farm and followed that pursuit until failing health compelled him to retire about two years ago.
Mr. Hutchins was a member of the Democratic party, but never held political office. Funeral services were conducted at Mead Chapel at 3 o'clock in the afternoon of Thursday, April 30, by Rev. Alexander Irwin, of Brookville, assisted by Rev. Henry Shilling. Interment was made in the graveyard at Mead Chapel.
