Biography

Matilda Hutchins was born on 24 September 1783, in Fitzwilliam, Cheshire, New Hampshire, United States, her father, Phineas Hutchins, was 43 and her mother, Abigail Reed, was 39. She married George Wheaton Sumner about November 1803, in Charlestown, Sullivan, New Hampshire, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. Matilda married second Lemuel Hitchcock in August 1809 in Claremont, Sullivan, New Hampshire. They were the parents of at least one son and one daughter. She died on 27 November 1814, in Weathersfield, Windsor, Vermont, United States, at the age of 31, and was buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Watertown, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. Matilda Hutchins Sumner was laid to rest at Union Cemetery, Claremont, Sullivan County, New Hampshire, United States.
