Questionable brothers for the Six Sisters

Numerous decendants of Hutchinson males claim that their ancestor was a brother of the famous six Hutchinson sisters, but no evidence has ever been found that the six sisters had a brother.

Due to disputed claims about the state of Andrew Jackson's nativity, extensive contemporaneous interviews were conducted with people who knew personally the six sisters and the families connected with them. Nowhere in these interviews is the existence of a brother ever mentioned.

All claimed brothers of the six sisters should be detached from this family. To help future researchers, links to them can be given (as they now are) in this section of the family biography.

John Hutchinson
Currently this profile has attached as a son John Elias Hutchinson. In his extensive Wikitree biography there is precisely one sentence that relates to him – the rest all pertains to the six sisters. The one sentence, a parenthetical comment, is repeated here:

(According to one account, they [i.e., the six sisters] had a brother, Col. John Hutchinson, who married Elizabeth Crawford, born about 1740, this marriage being in York Co. Pa. on Sept. 26, 1762)[1]

We are left to guess whose "account" it is and upon what evidence the account is based. The account certainly was not one of the contemporaneous interviews conducted in the mid-1800's.

John Hutchinson and Elizabeth Crawford did exist and were married as claimed. He died in 1806 and left a will (extracts are available online).[2] Elizabeth died in 1820 and also left a will. What remains lacking is any evidence that connects this John Hutchinson to the six sisters.

Peter Hutchinson
Peter Hutchinson of Osborn's Ford (now Dungannon) on the Clinch River in Virginia is also frequently claimed as a brother of the six sisters. Numerous books and other printed sources can be found that make the claim. Here are three examples.[3][4][5] The evidence is lacking in this case as well.

Hutchinson-3002 and Hutchinson-249 appear to represent the same person because: I think these are the same person. All data agrees.
