Abigail was born in 1709, the daughter of Captain Thomas and Sarah (Foster) Hutchinson, in Boston of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, where she was raised.
Abigail would marry twice in her life. She married her first husband, John Davenport, the son of Addington and Elizabeth (Wainwright) Davenport, in 1732 in Boston. They would have one child:
Abigail (Davenport) Prout (1733- 1786)
John died on November 27, 1735, at 32 years of age.
Abigail, was married on December 22, 1749, to her second husband, William Merchant. They would have at least one child:
Sarah (Merchant) Richardson (1750- )
Abigail would live beyond the birth of her daughter Sarah but no death or burial records have been found.
