Biography

Written by Grahame Thom:

"I am reasonably certain that this is Ann Jones who married the ... convict, Joseph Ikin in 1848, see the online NSW births, death and marriages indexes. Joseph Ikin arrived in Sydney on the ship York on 7 February 1831, he was 35 years, a native of Cheshire. Joseph married Ann Jones on 17 January 1848 at Windsor, NSW. They don't appear to have had any children. Ann Ikin died on 11 March 1855 aged 51 years."[1]

Birth about 1804, place unknown

Marriage: 17 January 1848 to Joseph Ikin at Fairfield near Windsor, NSW in a Presbyterian ceremony. Joseph and Ann were "bachelor" and spinster, both of Windsor. Witnesses were Samuel Simpson and Eliza Simpson both of Windsor.[2]

Death 14 March 1855 at the Benevolent Asylum, pauper, age 51. She was buried at Camperdown Cemetery on 16 March.[3]

Burial 16 March 1855 Camperdown Cemetery, Newtown, City of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.[4]

Research Notes

Is she the Ann Ikin who married Valentine Bridekirk in 1854?[5] No, that Ann Ikin was the Daughter of William Ikin and Mary Tims Ikin (see https://www.geni.com/people/Ann-Bridekirk/6000000022223688874?through=6000000022220580805)

This person was created through the import of OurLinks.ged on 21 December 2010, and unfortunately was linked as a child to Obadiah Ikin. Since Ann obviously was NOT a child of Obadiah Ikin, the link has been broken on 22 November 2021. - Heather
