Marianne Ikin was baptised 20 March 1784 at Whitchurch, Shropshire, England, parents Obediah and Sarah Ikin.[1]
There is no evidence that she arrived in Sydney with her parents. She was not mentioned in her mother's will of 1813. She is unlikely to be the Mary Ikin who married Richard Martin.
Death: probably before her sister Mary Ann was born in 1788.
Research Notes
Several trees on Ancestry.com have assumed she is the Mary Ikin who married Richard Martin on 3 July 1805 at St John's Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia (witnesses William Barnes and Ann Reffin).
The trees have two possible dates of death:
Mary Martin who died 06 March 1875 , New South Wales, Australia.[2]
Mary Martin who died 1 December 1839 and whose gravestone was photographed at Devonshire St Cemetery Sydney. Her death registration (St Lawrence CofE Sydney burial register) has age 54, abode Pitt Street, and "Dec'd Husband a publican".[3]
See Ann Bullivant - her father is Richard Martin - a coincidence?
