Biography

Ellen Frances Ingalls was born on August 29, 1839 Sullivan, Hancock, Maine.[1][2]

Ellen married Ephriam Dyer on June 2, 1859 in Randolph, Illinois.[3] He was a surveyor at Alvardo.[2] They had 6 children:

  1. Harold Parker Dyer (1860-)[4]
  2. Henry Sawyer Dyer (1864)[4]
  3. Herbert Paul Dyer (1867-1915)[4]
  4. Edith Dyer (1870-)[4]
  5. Ernest I Dyer (1872-)[5]
  6. Ephraim Ingalls Dyer (1881-1964)[6]

Ellen (age abt. 30) and Ephriam (age abt. 42) lived in Alvarado, Alameda, California in 1870, where Ephraim was a Surveror, and Ellen was taking care of the home and children, Harorold P-10, Henry-6, Herbert P-2, and Edith, 3 month's old.[4]

They were in Murray, Alameda Califronia in 1880, Where Ephriam was A Suveror, with Harold P-20, Henry-16, Herbert-12, Edith-10, and Ernest-7 in the home.[5]

Her husband Ephraim passed away on October 31, 1883, in Alvardo, California, at the age of 55. They had been married 24 years.

Widowed Ellen was living on Alice Street, in Oakland Ward 5, Alameda, California by 1900, where at this time Edith-30, and Ephriam-18, were in the home.[6]

In 1910, widowed, she was living in Oakland, on her own Income. Living with her were her son's Ernest P-38, (a Electical Engineer) and Ephraim-28, (a Contractor) with his wife Zoe R-24.[7]

Ellen died at the age of 79, on February 26, 1920, in Alameda, California[8] and was buried in the Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park, Cemetery in Hayward, Alameda, California.[1]
