14 Jun 1622: bought Temple Newsam at York from Ludovick Stewart, Duke of Lennox, for 12000[34]... "pulled down the greater part of the ancient mansion .... erecting a splendid house on the site."[citation needed]
Right after it was built, the South Wing burned down in 1635. Arthur "the elder" died shortly after, but Temple Newsam was apparently, in the possession of Arthur "the younger," before Arthur I passed.[35] Work continued,[36] but the South Wing was not rebuilt ... until 1796, by Frances Shephard, Viscountess Irwin.[37]

purchased manors of Holbeck, Altofts and Warmfield[citation needed]
Sir Arthur Ingram had an aunt Margaret Ingram, who married Thomas Cole of London. The identity of Margaret's father is unclear, and addressed as "Mr. Ingram." ... Margaret and her husband are the grandparents of Sir William Cole (d. 1653) of Eniskillen Castle in Ireland. He was one of the early undertakers for the Plantation of Ulster at Dromskeagh in Fermanagh in 1611.[39]
