Biography

I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother to 1 son and 7 furbabies...5 cats and 2 dogs. Cant tell we love out 4 legged family can you. Aunt to many wonderful nieces and nephews. Born in the 50's, survived the 60's and 70's... so far surviving 2020 , hanging in there watching the world spin out of control today. Besides genealogy I like photography, cross -stitch, car shows and drag racing.

I started messing around with genealogy and my family almost 20 years ago just for fun and to see how much info I could find out. I wasn't a "serious" researcher back then so I just mostly collect names birth dates death dates places born died and buried. If I found interesting stories that was icing on the cake. Back then I didn't care about "sources". I just enjoyed putting a tree together and along the way getting to know lots of cousins I didn't even know that I had! Of course NOW I understand the importance of "sources" if you are putting info out into the cyber world for all to see. I still mostly do this just for fun but, I try harder to have documents to back up anything I put online. If I dont I will always try to make note of that so anyone else that comes along will know it needs documents and hopefully others can help add to that info.

Our family is small now, so many have gone to pave the way for us. My biggest goal is to be able to share with those coming after me so they will have a good start and hopefully carry it to bigger and better depths.

There are so many names in my family tree too many to list...but a few of the main names in my direct tree are Inman, Lee, Geary, Calvin, Stricker, Cotton, Reid,Maddox, Moore, Mahan,Yow,Hancock, Ridenhour, Steel, Reed, Hemphill, McCarter, Zumwalt, Craig, Wolf, Vaissiere, Larose and Torres a connection way way back in early 1700s in New Mexico and this is just my side of the family!

On my husbands side of the family we research Brownfield, Lord, Roberts, Hill, Langley, McCarty, McCallie, Simpson,Savage,Swicegood, Ladd with a focus on the Langley family.

Our history includes some of the first settlers to live in what was then still part of the Louisiana Purchase and would become Arkansas at Arkansas Post of French, German and Spanish ancestry. A Spanish lady taken captive by Indians in New Mexico and surviving to end up at Arkansas Post, marrying and having a family there. A family in a tragic train wreck that took the lives of half the family and leaving the other half to survive. Also ancestors from 2 sides of the family who are said to have explored with Daniel Boone and may have married into the Boone family. Families from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kentucky, Texas,New Mexico, Spain, France, England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Switzerland and all points in between. The branches of our trees are heavy with many ancestors, some good some not so good but all who have made us the people we are today. I am happy to help keep them all alive in the smallest way possible...by preserving even the smallest clip of their lives for those who may take the journey to look for us in the future. Happy hunting to all and many thanks to all those who choose to share what I like to call ALL OUR RELATIONS.

Hi Cindy

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Add the project tag to your Following list to be kept up to date on any activity that occurs for that project.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

Hi

Wish you a Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you all you need to be happy.

Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As we always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.

Thank you for being a Wikitreer,

Guy Constantineau - Wikitree leader

Hello, just a word (late) to congratulate you on the contributions you made during the month of November. Whatever the quantity, they are all important.

Your work is appreciated.

Thanks

Guy Constantineau

I got off to a good start with my tree but had to take a break. Several things have happened since I was last here. My hubby lost his job and we had to concentrate more time and energy into that situation. We also moved...my son bought his first home and we moved in with him. Just now beginning to get things in order and have more me time. Need to reinstall genealogy stuff on computer and hopefully I will be back at it sometime soon.
How's everything going?

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi Cindy,

Yes, Josiah Clement married both Mary Hannah McCarter and Sophia Ella Geary. The half brothers of my grandfather talk about their father's stepsisters.

Hi Cindy

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as one collaborative team!

What brings you to us? Do you have research you’d like to share? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests with your tags.

If your not sure about tags, add one for a surname your interested in and then maybe a country or state. Tell us why the tags you chose are important to you. Don't forget to click on the "volunteer" button.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!
