Weddings. WELLS—IRVINE
At 10.30 a.m. on New Year’s Day a wedding which created much interest came off at the Presbyterian Church, Geraldine, the contracting parties being Mr James Wells, Geraldine, and Miss Irvine, only daughter of Mr Adam Irvine, of Ashfield, Woodbury Road. The nuptial knot was tied by the Rev. A. B. Todd, the bride being given away by her brother, Mr W. Irvine; her father being unable to attend through illness. The bride was beautifully attired in white silk lustre trimmed with white satin, silk ribbon, and orange blossoms, and wore the usual wreath and veil. The bridesmaids were Miss Jennie Wells, sister of the bridegroom, and Misses Clarissa and Edith Irvine, nieces of the bride. Miss Wells was dressed in cream lace and ribbon, and wore a picture hat trimmed with cream roses etc. The other bridesmaids wore of cream lustre trimmed with lace and silk, and wore picture hats trimmed with chiffon and tips. Mr J. Rodman acted as best man. After the marriage ceremony the guests assembled at Ashfield and partook of a very nice wedding breakfast, when the Rev, Mr Todd in a few appropriate remarks proposed the health of the bride, and bridegroom, to which the latter responded and proposed tho health of the bridesmaids. Mr Rodman responded and also proposed the healths of the host and hostess, to which Mr W. Irvine responded. For the occasion a largo marquee was attached to the house, with a wooden floor in it, to do service as the breakfast room and as a dancing hall at night, when the young people had full charge of affairs and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. About midday the happy couple left by the South express for Dunedin. The bride’s travelling dress was of pretty brown material. [4]

She died about 1940 aged 66 years old.[5]
