George Irving's birth certificate shows fathers profession as Locomotive Engine driver. Confirmed on George Irving's wedding certificate as Profession of Father.

John Irving married Margaret Paterson, registered March 1884 at Whitehaven, Cumberland. [1]

24 March 1884 Marriage certificate PAS 455668/2 for John Irving, aged 39, marriage to Margaret Paterson, aged 28. Condition of John Irving is stated as Widower, living at Mossbay Cottages, Workington. John's profession is Engineman. John's Father is named as James (deceased) profession as Shoemaker.

Margaret Paterson is a spinster living at North Side, Harrington. Margaret's father is John Paterson, profession as laborer. First marriage witness is John White. The gravestone inscription of John Irving (below) has a sister Jane (White) who is therefore the wife of John White? Second marriage witness is Agnes Workman.
