James Irving a widower and Mason aged 56 married Catherine Hay a domestic servant, aged 36 on the 24th of June 1862 in High Church, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. His parents were James Irving a farmer and Jane Riddell and hers were John Hay, flesher, and his wife Catherine Dudgeon.
Catherine is James’s 2nd wife. In the 1861 census James is a widow. In the 1871 census James is married to Catherine 16 years younger. Son Andrew is 15 years younger than Catherine.
