Irving, James Oldham.
He was a storeman in the county railways. He addresses a meeting which was organised by Wymm Williams and out the working mans point of view. This was a political meeting and it was against the Government regulations for a government servant to address apolitical meeting. He apologised for his action to Rolleston who accepted his explanation and told him he must get the Provincial Councillor to accept his apology. When he appeared before the executive, his attitude was not apologetic. After a good deal of discourse, on Ormsby’s motion the Provincial Council ordered his dismissal. [3]
