John Irving arrived in Australia with wife Elizabeth and 3 children on the ship “Ann Dashwood” in 1855. Jane was born on board in the Bay of Biscay and was christened Jane Dashwood Irving. They intended to take part in the gold rush but had only moderate success. Eventually they bought a farm at Coomera, on what was known as Snake Hill. Children were Dorothy, George, John, Jane, William, Margarette, and Thomas.
