CLINTON, Feb. 29 - Mrs. Rebecca "Beckie" Matthews, 67, died Monday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cole Blease after a two week illness. She was a native of Florence County but had been a resident of Laurens County for 37 years. She was a daughter of the late Jasper and Matilda Lynch Jackson. Her husband, A. B. Matthews, died two months ago.
She is survived by five daughters and one son, Mrs. Cole Blease, Mrs. Homer Jacks, Mrs. K. C. Morekis, Mrs. James Neuffer Creswell, Mrs. Carnell Wofford, and B. W. Matthews. Also 15 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Edna Miles, survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Cole Blease, 119 Sloan Street, Clinton. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery with Rev. L. R. Allen and Rev. M. A. Bryant in charge of the services.
The following will serve as pallbearers: A. B. Jacks, Frank Jacks, David Owens, Arthur Davis, Ed Warren and F. C. Rowe.
