Biography

He was born about 1740 in Amelia County, Virginia and his parents were Obedience and Ralph Jackson, Jr.

Lewis Jackson married on 04 Jan 1764 in Cumberland County, Virginia to Frances Richardson. [1] Her guardian was Henry Cox and his estate inventory was filed in 1795 in Charlotte County, Virginia.

In 1768, Ralph Jackson deeded 200 acres of land on Swift Creek to his son, Lewis Jackson.

They had about 12 children.

While still settling the estate of his mother-in-law, Mary Curd Richardson, he died suddenly, intestate on 13 Jan 1795 in Charlotte County, Virginia, USA. [2] [3] His estate dragged in Chancery until February 1796 [4]

His widow Frances died very soon after in February 1795. Most of their children were still minors, with only one child married - Mary Jackson had married Elijah Clark, who became guardian to some of the children. A second daughter married soon after and her husband also became a guardian to some.
