Elizabeth Jackson was born, perhaps Ipswich, Massachusetts Bay Colony, about 1642 (age at death). She was the daughter of John Jackson and Katherine Unknown.

Elizabeth Jackson married in Beverly, 12 Dec 1661, Thomas West.[1]

"Jackson, Elizabeth, and Thomas West, Dec. 12, 1661."

Elizabeth (Jackson) West died in Beverly, 1 October 1708.[2][3]

Research Notes

Robert Charles Anderson [head of the Great Migration Study project] reported about John Jackson as part of _The Great Migration: Immigrants to New England, 1634–1635_, 4:26-28. Anderson estimated John Jackson's birth as "by 1614" based on his land ownership in 1635. John's death date ("bef 18 Sept 1648") was based on the date of the estate inventory. John's widow, Katherine (_____), married again to William White by 26 September 1648 [deed].[5]

John Jackson's will called out "a" son and five daughters. In his Great Migration article, Anderson discusses various analysis about John Jackson's daughters, never mentioning this Elizabeth Jackson who married Thomas^2 West (John^1) at Beverly 12 December 1661. [VR]

Ancient Burying Ground: "Elizabeth West … wife of Capt Thomas West aged about 67 years deceased Octr ye 12th Anno Dom 1708"[6][7]

Sometime after John Jackson died, his house was purchased by John West.[8]Quite likely this is the same John West who was Thomas West's father.[9] John West, m1 Mary ___ and m2 Mary (____) Ley/Lee, is almost certainly the man for whom West Beach at Beverly was named. During their lifetimes, the father and son made agreement for the upkeep of the causeway.[10] Over the years, the responsibility was passed on to the children of Thomas and Elizabeth (West) Jackson. An account of "West Beach" was given by a descendant, Joseph E. Ober in about 1868.[11]

West-1769 and Jackson-3360 appear to represent the same person because: West-1769 is a mistake in LNAB and husband she was previously attached to.

Elizabeth married a different Thomas West who died in Beverly MA 1723. And these are not her children. She did have a daughter Ruth born Beverly but in 1672 (see MA Vital Records) and she married two men, but not this one. Perhaps someone has merged two Thomas Wests.

The Elizabeth Jackson who married Captain Thomas West already has a profile. Perhaps you could make this Elizabeth Unknown possibly Thomas. This is her from FINDAGRAVE

Thomas is not my ancestor and I have no documentation other than his name and dates of birth and death. However, I note that someone has her name as Elizabeth Thomas in the narrative here. Perhaps Jackson and West were both married names and Thomas was her name at birth.

In the process of updating some of the profile narrative, I couldn't find support for the baptismal date given of 12 January 1642. The narrative indicated that date was based on her death record.

If there are no objections, I would like to update her birth in the data field to "about 1642." --Gene

This appears to be the same person as Thomas-2949. Correct last name should be Thomas. Suggest connecting husband, children, death info, and findagrave source from this profile to Thomas-2949 and removing from this profile.

Jackson-7771 and Jackson-6178 are not ready to be merged because: There is some confusion with these two profiles. Due to the common last names, I need to research more before a merge...p.s. a change to the bio occurred BEFORE a merge was approved, so the information on 6178 could be incorrect now....

Jackson-7771 and Jackson-6178 are not ready to be merged because: There is a problem with the mothers.

Jackson-7771 and Jackson-12395 appear to represent the same person because: Only difference in data appears to be town-of-birth, which should be reconcilable.

Hoping only to be helpful, Elizabeth (Jackson) West was unlikely the daughter of John Jackson and Margaret Taft. Elizabeth's parents names were called out on her death and burial records--her father as "a" John Jackson, but mother is Katherine/Catherine. Great Migration Study project report about her father, immigrant John Jackson, shows not so many heirs as have been reported here. Latter source reports his widow m2 William White.

I have added a profile for Elizabeth Jackson (c1642-1708) m. 1661 to Capt. Thomas West.

Might we collaborate to either (a) make sure we are reporting about two different people or (b) work to correct the records about this Elizabeth so the profiles can be merged?
