Elizabeth (James) Jennings was born in Gloucestershire, England.
Hannah was born in 1861. She is the daughter of Joseph James and Harriet Sandford. Her birth was registered in the December Quarter at Chepstow. [1][2]
Hannah arrived in New Zealand with her family in 1878 aboard The Hereford
Elizabeth and Edward were married at Rangiora on the 8 March 1881.[3]
Their first child was a still born daughter; born at Longbeach on the 29 November 1881. [4]
Hannah died on the 8 April 1899 at her home in Ashley Street, Rangiora, aged 36. [5][6]She was buried at the Baptist Cemetery on 11 April 1899. Unfortunately there is no record of her burial in the Baptist Church records. [7]
The James and Jennings families would have had a lot of sorrow in their lives during March and April 1899. Hannah's nephew Joseph Alan James died the same day, aged 2 1/2 months, and Edward's mother, Sarah Eleanor Ivory had died earlier on the 11 March 1899.
