Biography
Jane Policott or Pollicot or Pollicott was born in about 1840 at Thame in Oxfordshire. She was the daughter of William Pollicot and his wife Maria, born Maria Steeden. [1] [2] [3] [4]
In 1841 Jane Policut was living in Pound Lane in Thame with William and Maria Policut (presumably her parents) and their other children. Her age was given as 10 months, implying a birth date in 1840. [1]
In 1851 Jane Pollicott was still living in Pound Lane with her parents William and Maria and their other children. Her age was given as 11, implying a birth date in 1839 or 1840. Her birthplace was given as Thame, Oxfordshire. She was at school. [2]
William Oliver, aged 22, a labourer, of Waterstock, son of Joseph Oliver, labourer; and Jane Pollicot, aged 23, a servant, of Waterstock, daughter of William Pollicot, labourer; were married at the parish church of Waterstock in Oxfordshire on 25 December 1861. [3]
In 1871 Jane Oliver was living in a cottage at Waterstock with her husband William and their children. Her age was given as 32, implying a birth date in 1838 or 1839. Her birthplace was given as Thame, Oxfordshire. [4]
Research Notes
There only seems to be one Jane Pol(l)icot(t) of about the right age living in Thame in the 1841 and 1851 censuses, and she seems to clearly be the daughter of William and Maria Pollicott. That is consistent with the record of her marriage to William Oliver, which names her father as William Pollicot. [3]

Paul Betteridge
Jane may not be the child of Emanuel and Lydia. She does not seem to be living with them in 1841 or 1851. There is a Jane Pollicott daughter of William and Maria in the 1851 census for Thame.
