Rachel & Thomas Potts died in New Jersey colony.
This can be verified by viewing the minutes of the Salem Monthly Meeting. On 8 March 1726 they purchased a plantation and 140 acre tract of land in Roxbury from Isaac & Mary Norris. On 16 Nov 1733 they sold that tract of land to Thomas Lewis of Goshen, Chester Cnty, PA. By 1750 they removed to West Jersey to a place far from any Friend's meetings. This did not please Rachel and meetings were then formed in her neighborhood. They ultimately joined the Salem Monthly Meeting in West Jersey. Salem County was first formally established within West Jersey on May 17, 1694. Burlington (then PA, now New Jersey) was on the east bank of the Delaware River directly across from Philadelphia, fifty miles north of Salem. New Jersey became a united crown colony in 1702, and a state in 1787.
