James was baptised April 18, 1784 in Stonehouse, Lanark, Scotland. He was the son of John Jamieson and Marion Hamilton and became a weaver in Stonehouse.
He married Isabella Gray on July 14, 1804 in Stonehouse and they had 10 children.[1]
Widowed before the 1841 Census, James and some of his children were living in Glasgow St Andrews, Lanarkshire: [2][3]
