Biography

Walter Herman Janney was born 28 Feb 1902 in Gaston, Delaware, Indiana ^[1] or possibly on 28 Feb 1901 in Delaware County, Indiana, the son of Jacob Janney and Sarah F Hedgeland). ^[2].

In 1910 he was 9 years old (or possibly 7) and living with his family in Washington Township, Delaware, Indiana. ^[3]

He married Blanche McCreery on 25 Nov 1919 in Delaware County, Indiana. ^[2]

He and Blanche were listed twice in the 1920 census. On 6 Jan they were listed in Muncie, Delaware, Indiana in a household with some other roomers. He was a 19 year old laborer at a mill. ^[4] On 10 Jan they were ennumerated with his family in Washington Township, Delaware, Indiana. He was listed as an 18 year old farm laborer on a home farm. ^[5] Presumably they moved from his parents house to Muncie and he got a new job around that time.

He married Leota E (Slentz) Osborne on 18 Jun 1930 in Grant County, Indiana. It was a second marriage for both of them. ^[1]

In 1940 he was living in Gaston, Delaware, Indiana with his wife Leota, daughter Marimarie and two step-children. ^[6]

He died on 7 Feb 1977 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Delaware, Indiana. ^[7] and was buried at Thompson Cemetery in Gaston, Delaware, Indiana. ^[8]
