Op Saterdag, 20 Maart 1688, verlaat die skip [4]China die hawe van Goeree, Nederland, op pad na die Kaap waar dit op Woensdag, 4 Augustus 1688, aankom. Aan boord was onderandere 'n paar weesmeisies. Een van die weesmeisies was Catharina Jansz van der Zee. Aan die Kaap was daar 'n groot tekort aan hubare vrouens en om stabilietyd aan die gemeenskap te gee het verskeie goewerneurs versoek dat die Here XVII moontlike hubare meisies na die Kaap moet stuur. She was an orphan. On 20 March 1688 The China ship departed from Goeree and arrived in the Cape on 4 August 1688. Catharina was among a group of eight orphan girls sent to the Cape. Jan van Riebeeck (1659) and Simon van der Stel (1685) have requested that the Heeren XVII send marriageable girls to the Cape. These eight orphans had been selected because of their experience in farming to marry farmers. They were: Ariaante Jansse, Willemyntje Ariens de Wit, Ariaantje Jacobs, Judith Verbeek, Engeltje Cornelisse van der Bout, Catharina Jansz van der Zee, Petronella Cornelisz, Anna Elkop. Also, onboard were 28 Huguenot refugees from Provence, of whom 8, mostly women, died during the voyage: Matthieu Fracassé, Pierre Jaubert, Susanne Reyne, Pierre Jourdan and Marie Jourdan and Paul Jourdan, Jeanne Rousse, Marie Rousse and Marguerite Rousse, André Pellanchon, Pierre la Grange, Jehane Marque, Jean Jourdan, Pierre Jourdan , Jean Mesnard, Louise Courbonne, Marie Anthonarde, Pierre Malan, Elisabeth Richarde, Jacques Malan and Paul Roux.
