Joseph was born 18 Jun 1727 in Chambly, Quebec, Canada and baptized at Saint-Joseph in Chambly. [1][2] His birth date was also given in some sources as June 20th, but his baptismal record clearly shows 18 Jun.[1][2] He is the son of Louis-Jean Barre (1700-1760) and Marie-Jospehe Bessette (1705-1752).[1][2] His godfather was Jean Baptiste Sencert and his godmother was Marthe Lapenta de Tous.[1][2]
Joseph married Marie-Josephte Lenoir Rolland on 24 July 1752 in Montréal, Quebec, Canada. [3][4] These are their known children:
