Biography

Leo was born on June 6, 1891 at Winona in Scott County, Tennessee. He was the son of Claiborne White Jeffers and Melvina ( Phillips ) Jeffers. Leo Jeffers married Florida Cross December 18, 1914, in Scott County, after she passed away on June 26, 1922 Leo married Ida Robbins on September 18, 1922 in Scott County. He passed away at the Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Scott County.

Leo Jeffers, 83, of Oneida, passed away in the Scott County Hospital, Tuesday, December 3, [1974] after a lengthly [lengthy] illness. He was the son of the late Claborn Jeffers and the late Melvina Phillips Jeffers, a member of the Pentecost Baptist Church. Survivors: daughter: Erva Jeffers of Oneida, three sons: Herndon Jeffers of Fort Wayne, Ind., Clerndon Jeffers of Oliver Springs, Allman Jeffers of Oneida, six grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the Pentecost Baptist Church 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, with Rev. James Laxton, Rev. Oliver Wolfenbarger and Rev. Albert Chitwood officiating.
