Hello,

My name is Guy. I am a WikiTree Mentor and a Leader.

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. If you are new to Genealogy we have some great tips on getting started, Getting Started with Genealogy.

Then you can connect your family to the greatest global family tree on the planet.

And remember, we have the best team to help you through our marvelous site.

As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!

Guy

Hi ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor

pps - I wouldn't worry about a gedcom, but for more info, check out Before you import a GEDCOM. I entered my tree manually, and my only regret is not slowing down enough to add my sources as I went. I'm still playing catch up on some of those early profiles. I helped my grandson upload a small gedcom over the summer, and I much prefer entering profiles manually!

P.S. I've found the best way to research my family in WikiTree is to post what I know and connect to existing profiles when I find them. That way, you can ask questions in G2G from the profile you're stuck on & folks will know what you have already.

For basic info on WikiTree, check out Intro to WikiTree. For genealogy, check out this page.

Cheers, Liz

Welcome Patricia!

I'm glad you found us. To become a full member (aka Wiki Genealogist), you’ll need to sign the Honor Code. For a list of helpful links, click my name and check out the "Greeter" section-especially the Sources links and the link to Debby, a former greeter, who has helpful information on her profile page also.

If you get stuck on anything and can't find an answer in WikiTree Help or How to Use WikiTree, you can post to G2G or give me a holler.

Thank you for joining our collaborative tree! Remember that our mission is to build a global tree with just one profile per person, so please look for duplicates before adding a profile.

Enjoy!

I am a novice, by any account, and am just beginning to get my feet wet. I want to learn about my genealogy and to help my friends to get started. I am so inexperienced that I don't know what a GEMcom is. I look forward to learning and eventually, contributing to this site.
