Biography

Robert was born about 1849. He is the son of Marion Jenkins and Sarah Weaver.

[Son of Sarah (Weaver) Jenkins and Marion A. Jenkins, death was Saturday, March 17, 1883] Suicide of Robert Jenkins Chattanooga, March 19, [1883] --Robert Jenkins, general agent of the Singer Sewing Machine Company here, suicided Saturday at 11 o'clock by shooting himself in the head. He was held in high esteem, but irregularites in business caused as investigation, when it was found that he had been guilty of forgery and embezzlement. Fearing arrest and exposure he suicided. Bob Jenkins was the son of Mrs. Sarah Jenkins, a widow lady several miles from Americus in Sumter county. Bob at one time clerked for Mr. H.D.Watts in this city, and the news of his death was telegraphed to his kindred in this place last Sunday. His remains were taken to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for burial, where he leaves a young wife[1].
