Lewis was born about 1831, the son of Jenkin Jenkins and Margret Unknown; he was Christened on 12 Dec 1831 in Wesleyan Circuit, Machynlleth, Montgomery, Wales.^[1] Their family lived in Uwchygarreg, Montgomery, Wales where his father was a farmer.
