The Argus Observer August 17, 2012
Elizabeth Williamson, 93, passed away peacefully with her family around her Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, due to aging.
She was born, Emily Elizabeth Williamson, March 27, 1919, in Harrison, Ark., the oldest of five girls born to Herman Jetton and Naomi Ruble Jetton. She moved with her family from Arkansas to Ontario, Ore., at the age of 18, there she met and married her one love, Grant Banks Williamson, Feb. 6, 1939, in Weiser, Idaho. They lived in Ontario and Vale, Ore., and later bought a farm in Payette, where they lived until moving to Cambridge in 1956. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and belonged to the Christian Church in Ontario, where she always took an active part in teaching and singing in the choir. After moving to Cambridge, the family joined the Cambridge First Baptist Church, where once again she jumped in and helped where she could. She always enjoyed the church and the church family. Mom was a wonderful Christian lady. Elizabeth and Grant owned and operated first a grocery store, then later Kay’s Cafe in the same building in Cambridge until they retired. She was a member of the Eastern Star and moved up through the Chairs, and was honored to be an Ambassador to Arkansas. She was a member of the Cambridge Look Out Club. Her hobbies were reading, getting together with friends and playing games, needlework and especially quilting. She loved the history of the quilts she made and let all the grandchildren pick their own pattern, and those quilts are treasured and proudly displayed. Mostly she loved her Lord, her family and her church family. She will be greatly missed by all of us. After retiring, she and Grant did some traveling, and for several winters traveled to Yuma, Ariz., where they enjoyed meeting and making new friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters; two infant sons; a grandson, Steven Gladhart, and her husband of 69 years, Grant. Surviving her are her daughters, Sharon Gladhart and husband, Dave, of Orofino, Kay Van Oder and husband, Ray, of Cambridge; grandchildren, Rhonda and John Burt, of Emmett, Michael and Michelle Gladhart, of Orofino, and Teresa and Ron Ritchie, of Boise; great-grandchildren, Ashley and James Greeson, Brittney Warren, Janelle and Ray Murphy, Jenna Burt, Amy Gladhart, Alex Gladhart, Emily Ritchie, and Joshua Ritchie; and great-great-grandchildren, Jaymeson Murphy and Kimber Murphy.
Viewing will be at Thomason Funeral Home in Weiser, Idaho, Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorial service will be at the Cambridge Baptist Church, Saturday Aug. 25, at 2 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lienkaemper-thomason.com.
