Mark lived with his uncle in Alton, New Hampshire., and there married Susan Evans of Alton and settled as a farmer. In 1863 he became established with his son Andrew in Garden City, Blue Earth County, Minnesota where he died May 3, 1864 of wounds received in an “Indian Massacre” in that place, surviving one day, though in a speechless condition. His wife was instantly killed by an Indian with a hatchet the day before.”
