Hey Edwin,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards .

If you need to describe an event, heirloom or a location relevant to your research, try Free Space Profiles .

If you run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving these unfortunate situations.

A project of note is the Global Family Reunion check it out at Global Family Reunion.

I need to figure out how to thank Bryan electronically (he already got a private message) and give him some appropriate "badge" as he identified my mother's parents and her mother based on census data. This was very quick (overnight) and I am in shock and need to move slowly and with care and thought. It's a testament to WikiTree that, after years of my own work with a search engine, he has enough data already to allow me to travel and spend time in local libraries etc. This also opens more doors here at WikiTree. As noted, I will move slowly.

Seasons Greetings to all. I already got a gift!!

I have read and downloaded the honor code and agree to abide by it. [I have a contact in my daughter's husband's family doing some work and will share it & the GEDCOM with them too.]. I agree with the mission and I agree to volunteer, though I'm not yet certain what that means or how much time and energy I will devote. I can and will share data about me, my father, my ancestors, but I am in search of information about my mother about which I have extremely limited information.

in that box was the invitation to the marriage ceremony in which my father married the love of his life, Sarah Clarke Clutter. The invitation was extended by "Mr. and Mrs. Andrew McCracken" and identified the bride as their sister. [Mrs. McCracken was a Clarke, I presume.] This explains the ancient sense that I had a wee bit of Scots-Irish blood in me. In prior research, I guess the family was from the Greater Pittsburgh (PA) region which is consistent with emigration and socio-economic history. Obviously I can provide scads of details about me and my father and siblings (she had a son named David who was a disabled Korean War Army Ranger from Annville, PA), and I can do a GEDCOM if useful. As a newbie here, I'll ask for direction from you et al in researching the McCracken link.

Thanks to Bryan andMaryann for welcoming and greeting me. I'm not sure how much and how fast I'll go, but let me tell you about myself and why I'm here. I'm a 66-y.o. retired man whose father was the family genealogist and I have access to all I need about the Jewett side of things. However, my mother died five days after I was born (on 8/8/48), and when my father re-married, my step-mother insisted on expunging my mother totally from the household, so I know virtually nothing about her except a few details. One of my nannies gave me a negative of her portrait, and I have her name and the fact that she was a divorcee (Clutter) from New Castle, PA. Recently I got several boxes of old stuff from the home where she and my father lived until they died in the late 1980's and (to be continued)
