Obituary of Mrs. Nip Lunsford (Elma Jewett), October 26, 1851-June 11, 1909

The community was much saddened this week of learning of the death of Mrs. Nip Lunsford which occurred on a train in Nevada while the family was en route to their old home at Dassel, last Friday. The family had gone to California about a year ago for the benefit of Mrs. Lunsford's health and remained until they were convinced that there was no hope of obtaining relief. It was the deceased's one great desire to be able to live until she could get to her old home here and be allowed to pass away among her old time friends and relatives. The remains arrived here Tuesday evening accompanied by Mr. Lunsford, Charley and Zylpha. Deceased was about 50 years of age and is one of the best known women of this vicinity having lived here many years before her removal to California. She was greatly loved for her sweet disposition and gentle nature that always made those who knew her, love and admire her. The funeral took place from the Baptist church here today, conducted by Rev. Blanchette and interment was made in the local cemetery.
