Sarah was born about 1730. She passed away in 1794.
There is some indication that Sarah's birth name was Fleming and that she was married to a man named Johnson prior to her marriage to Samuel Lacy. Information about her birth and a prior marriage has not been found.
It is reported that Sarah was a widow, with three children, at the time of her marriage to Stephen. At that time, she owned a tract of land in St. Paul's Parish in Hanover County. At the time of Stephen's will of March 1771, it is reported that Sarah's father was still living. Sarah's dower from the estate of her husband Stephen is recorded in Deed Book 11 pp. 65-66 of Goochland Co., VA. dated 16 October 1775. She died intestate. Her burial place is not known but may be near her husband in the Lacy cemetery on the old Matthew Lacy plantation. [1]
