Biography

Solomon Johnson, son of Solomon Johnson and his wife, Eleanor, was born about 1627. His birthplace is unknown. He died at Sudbury, Massachusetts, August 26, 1690.^[1]

Solomon married first Hannah _________, who died June 4, 1685. He married second February 1, 1686-7 "Hannah Crefts", who perhaps married second Thomas Frost.^[1]

Research Notes

• There is a Solomon Johnson, born 6 Apr 1627 in Massachusetts to Samuel Johnson and Elinor. (possibly) Many FamilySearch trees have Solomon Johnson, son of Solomon, born on this date. It appears that these trees are confusing the two Solomons.
• A FamilySearch of Solomon Johnson, born in England between 1620 and 1630 turned up no primary sources and 37 trees. A syntheses of the tree information has him born in Northampton in about 1622 to 1627, but most of the 1627 dates seem to be based on the wrong Solomon, born in Mass. The best birth seems to be "about 1622 in Northamptonshire, England."
• The most common wife listed in these trees is Hannah Holman. A few have Eleanor (who is his mother). Hanna Throckmartin is also mentioned, but may be the mother of another Solomon Johnson.

LNAB of second wife: In the records of Watertown, Massachusetts is recorded:

"Upon ye ist of February 1686/7 I maryed in my own houfe in watertown Solomon Johnfon (sic) widower of Sudbury, & Hannah Grefte (sic) of Natomy being legally publifhed; returned to ye Court at Cambridge by Mr William Bond Senir Justice of peace, this 7th day of June 1687."

This name has been taken as Craft, Creft, Grefte, Gross and Grose. Obviously there is some uncertainty as to her LNAB.
