Henry Johnson was likely born to Thomas Johnson and Sarah Ritter Johnson about 1790 in the Bahama Islands. He was mentioned in his father's will that was proved in 1806: "...all land in trust .. to wife, Sarah ... and to children, Samuel Johnson, the said Thomas Johnson, Ann Johnson, Frederick Johnson, William Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Henry Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson.."
He married Charlotte Higgs, daughter of Captain Samuel Higgs and Jane Gould Higgs, 6 January 1813 in Harbour Island, Bahamas. They had children: Charlotte Higgs, Charlotte Henrietta Higgs, Henry Edwin Higgs, Elvira Frances Higgs, and Jeremiah Frederick Higgs Johnson.
Henry Johnson died 1821 in Nassau. Lewis Kerr, administrator of all and singular of the chattels, rights and credits.., filed the return of 18 slaves of the said Estate of Henry Johnson, 1 January 1822.
