Biography

Henry Edwin Higgs Johnson was born to Henry Johnson and Charlotte Higgs Johnson 9 September 1817 in the Bahamas. He was baptized 31 December 1817 by Reverend William Hepworth, Rector, Christ Church, Nassau.

He married Henrietta Longley, daughter of Ritter Longley and Ann Catherine Fisher Longley, at St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Nassau 2 February 1843. The couple had children - among them Edwin Henry Johnson, Francis Ritter Johnson, Emily Lavinia Johnson, Louisa Johnson, and Ida Sarah Johnson.

Henry Edwin Higgs Johnson, auctioneer and commission agent, died 14 September 1896 in Nassau, Bahamas at 79 years of age. He was buried in the Western Cemetery, Nassau.
