Biography

Sarah John born about 1701 was the daughter of Robert Johnson and Elizabeth Goostree. She married Florence Sullivan about 1728. Their first son John was born in 1729. Florence Sullivan and his family joined the Nicholite group which flourished in Caroline County, Maryland. Their names appeared in the parish records. Children of Florence Sullivan and his wife Sarah Johnson were John, Daniel, Florence, Jr., Solomon, and Darby. Abraham and Daniel Sullivan are named "next of kin" in the will of Florence, Sr.

The will of Florence Sullivane was registered on 28 Oct 1775 in Caroline County, Maryland. In his will, he leaves his property to his wife Sarah Sullivan, and to his sons John, Daniel, Florence, Solomon, and Darby. The will was probated on 28 May 1776.[1]

To wife Sarah' Sullivane, Extx., all lands and moveables during life; To son John Sullivane, 1 shilling; To son Daniel'Bold text Sullivane, trace "Sullivanes Addition" containing 50 acres, he paying 7 shillings yearly to Abraham Sullivane during life; To son Florence Sullivane, Ex., tract "Sullivanes Lott" containg 45 acres, paying to Abraham Sullivane 7 shillings 6 pence per year during life; To son Solomon Sullivane, 50 acres part of "Darby's Lott" paying to Abraham Sullivane 7 shillings 6 pence per year during life; To son Darby Sullivane, remainder of tract Darby's Lott, but if he have no heirs land to be divided between my three sons Daniel, Florence, Solomon Sullivane; All personal estate after wifes decease to be equally divided amongst all my children except son John Sullivane; Wit: Nath'l Potter; Solomon Webster; Henry Webster; Vide: Widows Election not to stand by will but asks 1/3 of estate.
