Jane Johnson was the daughter of Ashley Johnson and Mary Watkins Johnson of Amelia County, Virginia. She married her second cousin, Elisha Johnson of Hanover County on March 16, 1785. She had the following children:

Thomas Watkins Johnson b. 1797
Jane Johnson b. June 1, 1798
She died five days following the birth of Jane on June 5, 1798.
