Biography

Keziah Jane is her proper name although almost all census records list her as Jane. Only the 1871 census indicates her first name is something other than Jane.

The Johnson family lived in the township of Clinton, Lincoln county, in the province of Canada West (Ontario) during the 1851 Canadian Census. Jane was 15 years old at the time. She was born in Canada and has Methodist N.C. listed as a religion. She lived with parents John and Anna and siblings Mary, Lydia, George, Hiram, and Freeman. George Johnson, 78, same religion but from the United States, is listed immediately after the rest of the family. He may possibly be related. Click here for [1].

During the time of the 1861 Canadian census, Jane is an unmarried 23 year old living in the township of Clinton within the district of Lincoln in the province of Canada West (Ontario). She is listed as being born in Upper Canada with a religion of N.C. (?). She can read and write. The family lived in a single family, single story frame house built in 1852. Jane lived with parents John and Anna, and siblings George, Lydia E., Hiram, Freeman B., and Martha E. The family name shown is Johnson. Click here for [2].

In 1871, Jane, age 30, is living in the township of Clinton, Lincoln district, in Ontario, Canada with her parents and siblings Freeman and Martha. Her name in the census is listed as Josiah Jane. Click here for [3].

On January 28, 1877, she marries Robert H. Foster in Raleigh, Kent, in Ontario, Canada. She is 39 years old while Robert is 41.
