Biography

John was born about 1720, and little is known of him. It is believed that he was born in England. He joined the Buckingham Meeting and in 1749 married Lydia Canby, the daughter of Thomas Canby, no parents were given for John. There were no Canby's or Johnson's who witnessed the marriage. [1] John Johnson died in 1754, his will being probated on 11 Apr 1754[2] In his will he is listed as being from Solesbury and he mentioned his wife Lydia and two children, Jonathan and Ann. It is not known if Lydia was the mother of these children. The book "Historic homes and institutions and genealogical and personal memoirs of Chester and Delaware Counties, Pennsylvania", Vol II. Chester and Delaware Counties, pg. 2_557, states that Lydia was the mother.
