My husband is descended from Jesse Johnson, the brother of Benjamin Johnson (1760). They were the sons of Joseph Johnson and Alice Spivey of Granville, North Carolina. Jesse's and Benjamin's maternal grandfather was Littleton Spivey. That's why Benjamin named a son Littleton Spivey Johnson and Jesse had grandchildren named Littleton and Spivey. Benjamin and his father were on records together in Granville. Co. About half of the children you have Benjamin linked to weren't his. In addition, there is no evidence that his son James survived infancy, let alone married and fathered children. Unfortunately, there are a number of completely unrelated family trees that try to link to Benjamin Johnson through his son James. Not a single one has any documentation.
