Biography

Charles C. Johnson, 84, of New Bedford died Thursday February 6, 2003 at St. Luke's Hosptial. He was the husband of Althea M. (Powell) Johnson, and son of the late Harry B. and Jennie B. (Caron) Johnson.

A lifelong resident of New Bedford, he was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

Mr. Johnson was formerly employed as a commercial fisherman on several vessels in the New Bedford fleet until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Judith K. Pereira of Mattapoisett, and Ann Neves of New Bedford, a brother, Harry B. Johnson, Jr., of Fairhaven; several grandchildren icluding Cheryl M. Lamb of New Bedford and Tony Pereira of Mattapoisett; and several nieces and nephews.He was the father of the late Charlene Johnson.

His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday February 12, 2003 at 2 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 1-2 PM, prior to the service.
