Date: Apr 1793

Marriage

Jesse JOHNSON was married on 11 October 1813 to Mary "Polly" BURNS.

One researcher posted on this profile that he was born in Sullivan County, Tennesse. However the source they stated for their information was the 1880 U. S. census record which did not record county of birth in its listing.
Sullivan County, Tennesse Marriage Records are only available after 1861. If they married on this date in that county any record has probably been destroyed.
In the 1830 U. S. Census,[4] a Jesse JOHNSON was listed as residing in Clay County, Kentucky, but the ages of the available children do not match this individual.
There is a Jesse JOHNSON listed in 1830 in Harlan County, Kentucky that seems to have children who may match up with available data.
Breathitt County, Kentucky was not founded until 1839. It was founded from parts of Clay County, Estill County and Perry County in Kentucky.
Census Records after 1850 seem to indicate that his wife was from Tennessee and he was either from Tennessee or Virginia. The location of Harlan County, Kentucky could have been a reasonable location to settle from either Tennessee or Virginia. It is probable that the marriage took place either in what became Harlan County, Kentucky or in a location in Tennessee or Virginia before they moved into Kentucky.
Harlan County, Kentucky was not formed until 1819 from Floyd County and Knox County.
Research NOTES: 13 February 2018 - checked the Marriage Index for Floyd County, Kentucky, noted: Patrick JOHNSON (marriage 1813), Eli JOHNSON (married 1814), Thomas JOHNSON (Married 1817) and Benjamin B. JOHNSON (married 1819). No Jesse JOHNSON in the index of Floyd County, Kentucky marriages before 1820. (Researcher: Jeanne Howell)
Research NOTES: 13 February 2018 - checked the Marriage Index for Knox County, Kentucky, noted the index was in alphabetical order, No Jesse JOHNSON was found in the index listing. (Researcher: Jeanne Howell)

I readded Mary Miller as mother of Jesse and proposed a merge with Mary Polly-232. I concur that more research is needed.

Johnson-47387 and Johnson-38771 appear to represent the same person because: Birth year is off by one year, but place is the same and so is month of birth. One of children matches the other profile's linked children. This will have to be merged later after this merge is correct. Locations are similar for death location. Death date is off by 8 years. Further research is needed on this individual, but I am confident they represent the same individual.
