Biography
Russell Joseph Eamuel Johnson was born June 5, 1906 in Campbelltown (Town of Hamlin) McKean County, PA. He was the son of August and Amelia (Erickson) Johnson who came to the U. S. from Sweden in 1887. Based on military records, Russell must have adopted the middle name Emanuel. [1] [2] [3]
In 1930, Russell was a laborer in the oil fields. [4] He married the widow Emily McCoy Olmstead on 15 May 1931. [5]
He served during World War II in the U. S. Navy. He is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport, McKean County, PA. [6]
