Biography

Marriage

Married to Ida Cecilia Johnson, Jan 3rd, 1924. He was a sailor. Age 27. Son of Peter Spearns of St Lawrence, NS, and Mary Miller. Roman Catholic.

She was age 23, worked at a [Morrs Facility?]. Of Halifax, NS, born Bear Cove. Daughter of [John?] Johnson of Halifax, and Sabine [Keifer?].[1]

Residence 1901

Census of Halifax. This seems to be the correct Ida, her age is given as 4/12, which may be 4 months old. This is a slightly problematic fit, but might mean her birthday is the beginning of January. Also in the record is her father, John J Johnson (37y), and her mother Sabina (31y), as well as a sister and brother.[2]

Residence 1911

Census of Halifax. Birthdate given as 1902, so possibly she is the younger sister of the Ida in the 1901 census. Having said that, all the birthdates have wobbled between the two censuses. Included in the record are father John (49y), mother Sabine (44y), and several siblings.[3]

Death

Buried in Our Lady of Cemetery St. Anne's Catholic Church . Portguese Cove, NS. Birth and death dates from headstone.[4]
