She is named "Emma Johnson" in her father's willl[1] written January 1874, so seems to have been unmarried at age 41.

Emma appears in the 1920 federal census in Porterville, California, living with her great-niece Alice (Van Meter) Newkirk, her husband William Newkirk, and their daughter and grandson.
