Biography

Robert and Anderina and their family left the Shetland Islands on 17 Aug 1874 on the Ocean Mail as assisted immigrants to New Zealand. Their fare of £132 was paid by the Government. Robert and Andrina were paid £10/15/6 for travelling expenses. They arrived in Nelson on the 8 November 1874. The women and children stayed in Nelson for three months while the men went establish a settlement in Karamea.
