Biography

Gerard (or Garard or Garland) Johnson was born about 1465 in England. This birth year is a guess based on his having underage children when he wrote his will in 1506.[1]

He married Wylmyn (maiden name unknown).[1] Their children included:[1]

  1. Richard.
  2. William (born, say, 1502).
  3. Robert.
  4. Joan.

There are 2 records for Gerard Johnson listed on the Canterbury Cathedral website. The first record for Gerard is an Act dated 1502 with Register ref. PRC/3/1/170. [2]

Gerard died in 1506, probably in the parish of St. Mary Bredman in Canterbury, Kent, England.[1] According to his will, he was buried in the parish of Holy Cross, Canterbury, near to his deceased children.[1]

Gerard was a beer brewer at the time of his death.[1]

PRC/17/10/165 I don’t know how to access these specific records and am not qualified to edit this profile. I would be very interested to learn what they contain and if they can be added as sources (and images if possible). url: https://wills.canterbury-cathedral.org/
