Obituary from the Tipton Advertiser
A full and beautiful life was closed at 11:20 Oclock, Tues. night, March 21, 1916, when Mrs. Nancy Anderson after a decline of about 10 days passed peacefully away at the home of her son J. D. Anderson, in Rochester, IA.
Nancy A Johnston was born in Franklin Co., Penn. June 17, 1834 and when but 2 years of age was taken by her parents, David and Catherine Johnston to Ohio where they made their home for a few years, then came to Cedar County, Ia. She being 12 years of age at the time of the family arrival in this locality. Here she grew to years of maturity and June 26, 1860 she gave her hand in marriage to John. R. Anderson. To this union was born 3 sons and 1 daughter, Jefferson of Rochester, Lee of Sioux City, S.P. who passed from life 9 years ago and Kate Edwards of [asola, CA]
Her entire life since the death of her husband, August 10, 1879, has been spent with her son Jefferson with the exception of two years with her daughter Kate in Missouri.
She leaves to mourn her loss two sons, one daughter, 28 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, also two sisters, Mrs. Rose Barnes of Lisbon and Mrs. Rebecca Ripley of Tipton, besides many other relatives and friends.
In early womanhood during a meeting held in the Court House in Tipton Mrs. Anderson gave her heart to God and remained to the faith until death. In her last illness she often remarked that be it Gods will she hoped to be called home. None but God and those with whom was closely associate during her entire life know the Value, the cost and the limitless extent of the loyalty, self sacrifice and devotion to duty, which constituted the features of Mrs. Andersons life and character.
The many beautiful floral offerings were taken of the high esteem in which she was held.
Funeral services was conducted at the home of her son in Rochester, by the Pastor of the Rochester church and interment was made in the Rochester Cemetery.
